MS Dhoni retirement: CSK skipper gets ready for final season
Two years back Dhoni during a live session on CSK’s YouTube page had said that he hoped to play his last IPL game in Chennai. He had said, When it comes to the farewell, you can always come and see me play for CSK and that can be my farewell game. You will still get that opportunity to bid me farewell. Hopefully we’ll come to Chennai and will play my last game over there and I can meet all my fans,” .
A CSK official while speaking to Insidesport had earlier said that the management expects Dhoni to officially inform about his decision before the start of IPL. He had said, “We believe it will be his last as he wants to say goodbye at his favourite stadium. In any case, we should have clarity by the start of IPL. MS hasn’t informed us about his decision”.
“And of course, there is no pressure on him to take a call anytime soon. He is our leader and he will only do what’s best for the team. As far as the management is concerned, MS has full backing on whether he wants to continue beyond this season,”.

Cricketer turned commentator Sanjay Manjerekar spoke about MS Dhoni’s impact as leader. He added “Look, having watched T20 cricket over the years, especially with the IPL and the kind of pressures that teams feel, I believe that you can have one player in your team on pure leadership”.
“MS Dhoni doesn’t play regularly, so his impact with the bat is not going to be as much as it was in the prime, but somebody like MS Dhoni, with his leadership experience, you can have him in the team, to make a difference with his leadership. And this is a guy who’s had a team that was called the ‘Old Men Playing IPL Together’ and they won that particular season.”
CSK to face Gujarat Titans in IPL 2023 opener
The schedule for the IPL 2023 season is out and Chennai Super Kings will kick start their season against Gujarat Titans in an away ixture. The match is been dubbed as master vs apprentice clash, with MS Dhoni facing Hardik Pandya. The four-time IPL champions had a poor IPL 2022 finishing in second last on the points table. Gujarat Titans on the hand made history winning the IPL title in their maiden appearence. Expect a tight encounter between both teams.
