Broad got this unwanted record to his name during the fifth and final Test against India at Edgbaston in Birmingham. On Day 2, during the 84th over of the innings, Broad was smashed by Jasprit Bumrah for a total of whooping 35 runs out of which 29 went to Bumrah.
The previous record jointly belonged to South African Robin Peterson, James Anderson and Joe Root. Each of them were hit for 28 runs in an over, while Bumrah managed 29 off Broad.
Broad’s 35-run over
- Ball 1: Broad goes short and Bumrah goes for the pull, only to the top edge for a boundary for a fine leg.
- Ball 2: 5 WIDES! Broad goes short again and it goes over the keeper’s head four a boundary.
- Ball 2: SIX and NO BALL! Broad goes short again and Bumrah this time top edges this for a MAXIMUM!
- Ball 2: FOUR! Full toss and the Indian captain swings it over mid-on for another boundary.
- Ball 3: FOUR! Inside edge! Length and Bumrah swings it wildly as a thick inside edge rolls into the fine leg fence.
- Ball 4: FOUR! Short and Bumrah falls over playing the slog but finds the mid-wicket boundary.
- Ball 5: SIX! Short and on the leg-stump as Bumrah slap it over the fine leg fence.
- Ball 6: Broad nails the yorker and Bumrah steals the single. 35 runs off it!!

Incidentally, Broad had also bowled the most expensive over in T20Is, conceding six sixes to Yuvraj Singh in 2007. The left-hander tonked the veteran pacer to all parts of the ground in Johannesburg. Yuvraj Singh went on to score the fastest T20i fifty, in just 12 balls.

- Ball 1: Broad goes full on the leg stump, Yuvraj Singh goes big on the leg stump for a maximum.
- Ball 2: A carbon copy of the first delivery and Singh pounces on it for yet another six.
- Ball 3: Broad overcorrects and goes full outside off, and Yuvraj slams it over extra-cover for a maximum.
- Ball 4: Full-toss and Yuvraj smashes it over backward point for a big six.
- Ball 5: Change in line, no change in result! Again on Yuvraj’s legs and the left-hander smashes it over mid-wicket for a maximum.
- Ball 6: Length again and Yuvraj made some room and smashed it over wide mid-on.
