All eyes were bound to be on Mitchell Starc, who became the costliest player in IPL history when the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) franchise bought the fiery Australian for a mind-boggling fee of INR 24.75 crore at the IPL 2024 auction.
It was a huge punt by KKR, who splurged out almost quarter of their entire purse on a player, who had played only two T20s since last year prior to the IPL 2024.
More renowned for his exploits in longer formats of the game, Starc has commenced his IPL 2024 on a horrible note. He gave away 53 in the opening match of KKR against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) before failing to do any impact once again.
In KKR’s recent clash against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Starc went wicketless once again and gave away 47 runs. After his first two games, Starc’s bowling performance in the tournament read – 0/100 after eight overs.
Iceland Cricket trolls Mitchell Starc
On March 29, an X user posted a photo of Starc, while captioning the bowling figures (8-0-100-0) of the left-arm pacer. However, in what came as a light-hearted criticism, Iceland Cricket took a jibe at the bowler.
The official Twitter handle of Iceland Cricket chimed in on the conversation, replying to a Mitchell Starc post with a hilarious remark: “More expensive than a beer in Iceland.”
The tweet quickly gained traction, garnering amusement from fans who appreciated Iceland Cricket’s witty take on Starc’s struggles.
