Mohammed Shami’s participation in IPL 2025 auction confirmed

Mohammed Shami will go under the hammer in IPL 2025 auction after being released by Gujarat Titans after he missed IPL 2024 due to injury

India cricket team pacer Mohammed Shami is all set to go under the hammer in IPL 2025 auction. He was released by Gujarat Titans ahead of the auction and is now on the look out for a new team. Shami, who was with Punjab Kings before moving to GT, missed IPL 2024 entirely due to an ankle injury.

Mohammed Shami confirmed to participate in IPL 2025

A total of 574 players will go under the hammer in the auction that will be held in Jeddah on November 24-25. Out of the 574 Players, 366 are Indian and 208 are overseas, including 3 players from associate nations. Shami has registered for the auction at a base price of Rs 2 crore. The pacer made his comeback to competitive cricket in the Ranji Trophy after being sidelined due to an injury following the ODI World Cup in 2023.

Shami’s services were acquired by Gujarat Titans before IPL 2022 and he went on to become one the most consistent bowlers for the side. In total, he has picked 48 wickets for GT across two seasons. He was forced to sit out of IPL 2024 due to his ankle injury. Overall, the veteran pacer has played 110 matches and has bagged 127 wickets, averaging 26.86 in IPL.

GT missed Shami dearly in IPL 2024 as he was one of their most reliable bowlers. He emerged as the team’s highest wicket-taker in 2023 when he bagged 28 wickets in the season. GT will now have to hunt for an experienced pacer in the IPL 2025 auction. Mohit Sharma, another veteran pacer, has also been released. The likes of Umesh Yadav and Karthik Tyagi have also been released, leaving the team with no pacers at all currently.
