Mohammed Shami ‘overwhelmed with gratitude’ at receiving Sportsman of the Year award

Indian speedster Mohammed Shami on Saturday reacted to being crowned the Sportsman of the Year at the Sportstar ACES Awards 2024. The ceremony was held at the Taj Mahal Palace in New Delhi on Thursday. Shami on Saturday said he was ‘overwhelmed with gratitude’ at receiving the honour amidst legends of the game.

“Standing amidst legends, holding the Sportsman of the Year award, I’m overwhelmed with gratitude. To be recognized for my contribution to Indian cricket by the Jury and presented to me by none other than #Legend Sunil Gavaskar is a dream come true.

“Surrounded by icons like Paes, Bopanna, Sheetal Devi, Murlidharan, and Vishwanath Annand and many others, the feeling is surreal. This moment will forever be etched in my heart. unforgettable. Grateful for the support and recognition,” Shami said in a post on Instagram.
