Mohammad Rizwan captaincy record in all format

Mohammad Rizwan will lead Pakistan in the Champions Trophy as they aim to defend their title from the 2017 edition.

Over the past few years, he has been a key pillar in Pakistan’s batting lineup, earning him the full-time white-ball captaincy in 2024.

Since his debut in 2015, he has represented Pakistan in all formats and is among the few to score a century in each.

As captain, he has shown promise despite being new to the role. Now, let’s take a look at Mohammad Rizwan‘s captaincy record in international cricket.

Mohammad Rizwan captaincy record in ODIs

In October 2024, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) named Mohammad Rizwan as the full-time captain for both white-ball formats. His first ODI series as captain was against Australia on their home soil, where he made history by leading Pakistan to their first bilateral ODI series win in Australia in 22 years.

Rizwan has captained Pakistan in 12 ODIs, securing eight victories, he has a win percentage of 66.66.

Rizwan captaincy record in Test

Rizwan led Pakistan in the game’s longest format in 2020–21, becoming the 33rd player to do so. Only twice, against New Zealand, has he been in the lead. Unfortunately, though, Pakistan lost both of his games. In two tests as captain, he amassed 202 runs at an average of 50.50, including three half-centuries. In his 35 Test matches, he has amassed 2009 runs, including three hundreds and ten half-centuries.

Rizwan overall captaincy record

Mohammad Rizwan made his captaincy debut during the 2020-21 Test series against New Zealand, though it was a challenging start, with Pakistan losing both matches. In October 2024, he was appointed as Pakistan’s full-time captain in white-ball cricket.

He has now led Pakistan across all three formats, overseeing 18 matches so far, with 8 wins and 10 losses. However, as he is still new to the role, there is plenty of room for growth, and his captaincy journey has a long way to go.
