MLC, The Hundred set to clash for 6 days, star overseas players’ arrival in UK likely to be delayed

Out of 25 overseas player who are under a contract in The Hundred, 12 have confirmed to be a part of MLC- either as signings or as retentions

The Major League Cricket (MLC) is all set to have a six-day clash with The Hundred as it is scheduled to commence on July 5. The group stage of The Hundred will start on July 23 and is likely to see overseas players arrive late for the league as the MLC will go on till July 28. The crucial knockout stage of the Major League Cricket will begin from July 24 which will feature four out of the six franchises.

MLC to clash with The Hundred for six days

Out of 25 overseas player who are under a contract in the men’s Hundred, 12 have confirmed to be a part of MLC- either as signings or as retentions. As per ESPNCricinfo, the coach of Texas Super Kings Stephen Fleming is however expected to priortise The Hundred over the MLC and has reportedly assured the team that he will be in the UK before the opening fixture on July 24.

Some of the overseas stars who are likely to miss some of the fixtures include Kieron Pollard, Akeal Hosein and Finn Allen for their first match. Further, England’s Test against West Indies will also clash with the opening fixtures of the Hundred as it is scheduled to be held between July 26-30.

MLC will start on July 5 – a day later than initially planned – and the 21-match group stage will run until July 23. Each team will play seven group fixtures. The four knockout fixtures have been scheduled for July 24 (Eliminator), 25 (Qualifier), 26 (Challenger) and 28 (final).
