Mitchell Starc reveals “Mr Fix it” for India, names Delhi Capitals teammate as…

Mitchell Starc was talking about Indian cricket before he lavished a particular Men in Blue player who is perhaps the most versatile cricketer.

The word “Mr Fix it” gained massive traction during the Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) due to immense rumours. Following the defeat in the Boxing Day Test, issues in the dressing room came to light. There were rumours that a player labelled himself as “Mr. Fix it” as a potential temporary captain in case of Rohit Sharma stepping down.

KL Rahul the “Mr Fixit” for India?

And now, a part of the BGT tour has labelled an Indian superstar as the “fix it” but in a different sense altogether. Mitchell Starc, who was bought by the Delhi Capitals (DC), has categorized KL Rahul as the guy. He wasn’t talking about the BGT rumours drama that unfolded but said it while lauding Rahul’s adaptability at any team. Starc, who will play alongside at IPL 2025 with KL Rahul, credited the Champions Trophy 2025 winner for playing various roles.

“KL Rahul is like Mr Fixit for India – He has opened the batting when asked to, batted at Number 6, Kept, fielded, batted in middle order — he has done just about everything, he has played vital roles, excited to play alongside him,” said Mitchell Starc on fanatics TV YouTube channel.

Starc was bought for Rs 11.45 crore at the mega auction after the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) released the IPL 2024 winner from his massive Rs 24.75 crore contract. Rahul, meanwhile, is a potential captain for DC.

Rahul’s versatility biggest boon for DC & India

Few players can match KL Rahul’s level of versatility. The Karnataka-born can play solely as an opener, middle-order batter, and finisher. Not to mention his credible keeping skills that allowed India to play him as a specialist keeper throughout the entire ICC ODI World Cup 2023 and at the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

In fact against Starc’s Australia at the BGT, Rahul made up as an opener when Rohit Sharma was unavailable. When the Hitman joined and didn’t have success in the middle-order, Rahul returned to bat at number three as well. In the ODI setup, Rahul has batted across as many as seven different positions. At the recent Champions Trophy, Rahul was demoted to number six as India preferred a left-hander in Axar Patel at five.
