Mitchell Marsh injured no more, available for LSG’s IPL 2025 opener against Delhi Capitals

LSG will be the sixth IPL franchise Mitchell Marsh plays for. Delhi Capitals, 2022 to 2024, was the last team the all-rounder represented.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are having injury issues. Mayank Yadav will likely miss the first half of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. Two other pacers of theirs, Shamar Joseph and Mohsin Khan, haven’t always been fit in the past either. Luckily for them, another injury-prone player, Mitchell Marsh, will play for them.

Mitchell Marsh fit for IPL 2025, but won’t bowl

According to ESPNcricinfo, Marsh has recovered from his back injury and is expected to join the LSG squad on March 18. The all-rounder was ruled out of the ICC Champions Trophy and the Sri Lanka tour as well due to the same injury.

Marsh hasn’t played a match since January 7 and was advised to rest. The injury didn’t come out of nowhere. He was having issues with his back ever since the Scotland and England tour in September 2024.

There is an issue though; Marsh will only play as a batter. The all-rounder has had loads of issues before, and it won’t be the first time he’ll play as a batter. He’s done so for Australia before as well. Other foreign all-rounders like Ben Stokes have done this in this IPL before as well to manage his workload.

The all-rounder was bought for Rs 3.40 crore at the IPL 2025 mega auction, and LSG will be his sixth IPL home, having played for Delhi Capitals, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rising Pune Supergiants, Pune Warriors, and Deccan Chargers.
