MI vs RR: Trent Boult & Yuzvendra Chahal humble Hardik’s Mumbai at home

Rajasthan Royals reclaim top spot after extending Mumbai Indians's losing streak to three matches in IPL 2024.

Mumbai Indians vs Rajasthan Royals, IPL 2024: Rajasthan Royals have become the second team after KKR to win away from home. And it was a win of authority for RR as they beat Mumbai Indians by 6 wickets with 27 balls to spare. With that, RR reclaim top spot in the points table. In a poor batting display, Mumbai Indians posted 125/9. Ex-MI pacer Trent Boult was the star besides Yuzvendra Chahal and Nandre Burger as MI surrendered to Royals after Hardik Pandya endured a traumatic evening with jeers from fans. He did well with the bat though, smashing 21-ball 34 but it wasn’t enough. Mumbai Indians posted one of their lowest totals at the Wankhde.

MI vs RR LIVE Updates

Hardik Pandya speaks

We didn’t start the way we wanted to, tough night tonight.

On his batting: I think we were in a decent position to give us a chance to get to 150 or 160 but I think my wicket changed the game and brought them more in the game and I think I could have done better.

On the pitch: It’s good to have something for the bowlers as well. The game is quite cruel to the bowlers. But it was unexpected. It’s all about doing the right things. Results, sometimes it happens sometimes it doesn’t. I don’t think much surprises me anymore. But as a group we want to do better and we just need to show more courage.”

Done & Dusted!

Hardik Pandya’s Mumbai Indians have suffered their third consecutive loss of the season. Riyan Parag deals the death blow with 6, 6 & 4 as RR win by 6 wickets to reclaim the top spot in the Points Table.

Riyan Parag leads RR’s chase

43, 84 and another mature knock by Riyan Parag. He is leading the run chase. RR need another 15 runs off 30 balls.

RR 111/4 after 15

What a spell!

Akash Madhwal finishes off with 3/20 in 4 overs. He dismissed Sanju Samson, Jos Buttler and R Ashwin. Wonderful spell by the youngster.

RR 95/4 after 13

Madhawal strikes!

Ashwin’s 16-ball 16-run knock has ended as he gives away a leading edge off Akash Madhwal.

RR 89/4 after 12.2

T20 or One-Day match?

Both Parag and Ashwin are not taking any pressure of boundaries. They are rotating strikes. Parag is batting at a 91.67 strike rate and Ashwin is batting at 106.67 — a great One-Day match is ongoing at present with a target of only 126.

RR 87/3 after 12

Halfway through

Rajasthan are 73/3 after 10 overs and need another 53 runs to win in 60 balls. They have Shimron Hetmyer and Dhruv Jurel to come after this. But can MI do the impossible?

MI fight back

Akash Madhwal has done the trick and so has Kwena Maphaka. Bumrah hasn’t got a wicket but he has rattled the RR batters in his three-over spell. Can RR bounce back?

RR 61/3 after 8

Madhwal on fire

Akash Madhwal strikes for the 2nd time and he has got the big fish Jos Buttler. The pace is doing the trick so far as Buttler tries to pull a Madhwal’s short ball but fails. And MI are fighting back.

RR 48/3 after 6.3

Bumrah makes batters dance

In-swingers, out-swingers, short balls — Jasprit Bumrah has made batters dance to his tunes in the first spell. He hasn’t had any success and has bowled 8 wides. But all of the extras came because of the extra swing he has been getting.

RR 46/2 after 6

Samson departs!

Sunil Gavaskar calls out Sanju Samson for his lazy shot as RR skipper drags Akash Madhawal’s delivery to stumps. RR lose 2nd wicket.

RR 42/2 after 4.2

Hardik almost silences crowd

It was a terrific effort and had Hardik taken the catch, he would have silenced the crowd that has jeered him for so long. Hardik gets Rohit’s applause though.

Buttler-Samson face Bumrah magic

Mumbai Indians have struck early and now they have brought in Jasprit Bumrah. Exactly what they should have done. Sanju Samson is yet to open his account and Jos Buttler is struggling against pace as well. The pitch is for the bowlers for now.

Maiden IPL wicket!

Mumbai Indians are fighting back. 17-year-old Kwena Maphaka has struck in the first over and it’s destructive Yashasvi Jaiswal who falls. RR 10/1 after 1.
