Sent to bat, Jos Buttler made short work of Rohit Sharma’s decision to bowl first. The England opener smashed a 66-ball century including 26 runs off an over of Basil Thampi. His 68-ball 100 knock besides 14-ball 35 from Shimron Hetmyer helped Rajasthan Royals set a 194-run target.

Mumbai Indians missed out on Suryakumar Yadav and that proved costly once again as MI’s middle-order struggle continued. After Rohit Sharma fell early, Ishan Kishan took the mantle, smashing his second consecutive half-century of IPL 2022 to keep MI in the chase. Young Tilak Varma also aided him in the chase with his maiden half-century (61 off 33).
But Yuzvendra Chahal turned things around with two wickets in his last over. With Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma departing in quick succession, followed by Tim David, the job became difficult for MI. Kieron Pollard failed to hit big as Mumbai Indians lost by 23 runs.
