After two stellar IPL seasons, Tilak Varma reaped his reward with an India cap. The left-hander was handed his debut in the IND vs WI 1st T20 at Trinidad on Thursday. Tilak is the latest in a line of players to come through the Mumbai Indians to make their international debut.

Tilak was called up for the first time in the Indian squad for the 5-match T20I series against the West Indies. With a T20 World Cup in 2024, the 21-year-old is looked at as one of the options in the middle order by Hardik Pandya. With Mumbai Indians under transition, Tilak Varma has been one of their finds in the IPL. The Hyderabad-born rising star has fit into the side like a hand in glove, showcasing his versatility. Despite missing games through injury, the 21-year-old managed to score 343 runs at a strike rate of 164.11. He often shouldered responsibility in the middle and death overs with his smart play against spin and pace.
