There have been quite a few speculations that Arjun Tendulkar might have got his cap today with the Mumbai Indians side out of contention for the IPL 2022 playoffs. Ever since he was picked up from the IPL 2021 auction, there have been talks around when will Sachin Tendulkar’s son make his IPL debut. However, with the quality Mumbai had in the last two years, making space for an inexperienced Arjun seemed a far-fetched idea.
However, things are different this time. Mumbai Indians are just one loss away from equalling Pune Warriors and Kolkata Knight Riders’ embarrassing record winless run. The pace battery hasn’t clicked while Jasprit Bumrah too hasn’t been at his impressive best. In such a situation, there is no harm in giving Arjun Tendulkar a go and see what he has got.

However, Mumbai Indians’ most-expensive auction pick Ishan Kishan is all set to keep his place despite failing to fire in the last six matches. He has scored just 199 runs in 8 matches at an average of 28.43. MI’s batting coach Robin Singh backed him to come good.
“We’ve addressed a few things that we feel that Ishan can improve on. Obviously, it’s about getting better during the course of the game. As you know, he started very well but fell away a little bit. We sort of revisited the entire tournament, we addressed a few things and we’re hoping that he’ll get back the same sort of form that he started with,” Robin Singh said.
