The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has confirmed the venues for the Men’s Asia Cup 2027. The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) is considering awarding the hosting rights of the 50-over event to Bangladesh, who were last granted the rights for an ACC tournament in 2016.
Proposed venues for Men’s Asia Cup 2027
BCB security committee chairman Sayeed Ibrahim Ahmed has revealed the venues as Mirpur (Quaid-e-Azam Stadium), Sylhet (Sylhet International Cricket Stadium) and Chattogram (Bir Sreshtho Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium).
Sayeed stated that the ACC, currently headed by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, sought information regarding the venues of the Men’s Asia Cup 2027, which will be held from June to July next year as a preparatory tournament for the ODI World Cup 2027.
“We have been contacted, and they (ACC) have asked us for detailed information about the three proposed venues. We hope to formalize the matter within the next few days,” Sayeed told reporters in Dhaka on July 7.
ACC yet to confirm BCB as hosts
Bangladesh hosted the 50-over Asia Cup in 2014 and is hoping the ACC grants them the rights to the tournament again. But it hasn’t been confirmed yet. One of the issues BCB faces is whether India will travel to Bangladesh. The BCCI hasn’t postponed their white-ball tour from 2025 to 2026, and it isn’t confirmed even now.
“We are hopeful that each of these venues will host at least one match. We will be able to share more over the next few days once the decision is finalised. We are optimistic that the Asia Cup will return to Bangladesh after so many years. We want to deliver a successful tournament for the fans and everyone who loves the game,” Sayeed added.
