MATCH FIXING allegations surface in Bengal’s first division league, ex-IPL star posts video

Town Club won the match against Mohammedan Sporting on Wednesday, while Shreevats Goswami posted the video a day later.

Wicket-keeper batsman Shreevats Goswami, who has played for different IPL franchises over the years, made allegations of match fixing in the Cricket Association of Bengal’s (CAB) first division league, on Thursday.

The 2008 U-19 World Cup winner, Goswami took to his Facebook and shared videos from a match between Mohammedan Sporting and Town Club, that looked suspicious.

He went on to claim that batsmen from Mohammedan Sporting deliberately got out, to concede points to Town club, that has connection with former cricketer Debabrata Das. The latter is currently the CAB secretary.

“This is super division match in Kolkata club cricket, 2 big teams doing this, any idea what’s going on here ?? I am ashamed to see this having played the game which is so close to my heart. I love cricket and I love playing in Bengal but looking at this breaks my heart. Club cricket is heart & soul of Bengal cricket please don’t ruin it 💔 I think this is called “got up “ cricket. Where is the media now ?,” Shreevats posted.

Meanwhile, Debabrata Das wasn’t available to comment, CAB president Snehasish Ganguly did respond to the allegations. He said that the association has sought an umpires’ and observer’s report. “We have called a tournament committee meeting on March 2 to take up the matter,” Ganguly said.
