Delhi Capitals (DC) have added a huge name in their coaching staff ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL ) 2025. Kevin Pietersen, who played for two seasons for the Delhi franchise, has been announced as the new mentor for DC on Thursday, February 27.
DC: No captaincy announcement but massive news before IPL 2025
A few hours ago, the Delhi Capitals (DC) hinted that there’d be a massive announcement at 3:00 PM IST. Many anticipated it to be a captaincy announcement but it wasn’t to be. Alongside the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), the Capitals remain the only franchise without a designated captain. The two players touted to be in contention as leaders are KL Rahul and Axar Patel.
Regardless, we are still some time away from getting to know about their captaincy choice. As of now, we know that England legend Kevin Pietersen will oversee the mentorship duty. Their has been a complete revamp in DC’s support staff after their ownership changes (albeit partly). The overhaul started with the addition of Hemang Badani and Venugopal Rao as head coach and Director of Cricket (DOC). Just recently, DC made former England white-ball coach, Matthew Mott their new assistant coach.
