Despite making his debut in 2008, Tiwary didn’t receive consistent opportunities at the international level. His last appearance for the national team was in July 2015 against Zimbabwe in Harare. In 12 ODI innings, he scored 287 runs with an average of 26.09, including one century and one fifty. His T20I career saw limited opportunities, managing only 15 runs in one innings.

However, Tiwary excelled in the Indian Premier League (IPL) and was a key player for Kolkata Knight Riders during their title-winning campaign in 2012, contributing with 260 runs in 16 matches. He also played a vital role in Rising Pune Supergiant’s run to the final in 2017, scoring 324 runs in 13 innings at an average of 32.40 and a strike-rate of 137.28. Throughout his IPL career, he played 98 matches and scored 1695 runs with seven fifties.

In domestic cricket, Manoj Tiwary had an illustrious career for Bengal. He participated in 141 first-class matches, 169 List A matches, and 183 T20 matches for his state. Remarkably, he finished his first-class career just 92 runs short of reaching 10,000 runs, boasting 29 centuries and 45 fifties at an impressive average of 48.56.

In February 2021, Manoj Tiwary made his entry into politics by joining the All India Trinamool Congress party. He successfully contested in the elections and became a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA). Following his victory, he was appointed as the Minister of State for Sports and Youth Affairs.
