Avram Glazer, who is the co-chairman of renowned England Premier League club Manchester United and a part of the Glazer family-owned Lancer Capital, recently had a meeting with the chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

The two parties exchanged plans regarding the proposed UAE T20 League, which is set to commence in 2023. Al Maktoum confirmed Glazer’s plan of starting the Manchester United cricket team by tweeting:

Notably, the Glazers were among the nine parties who placed bids for the two new franchises of the Indian Premier League. Their bids were unsuccessful as RP Sanjiv Goenka Group and CVC Capital Partners emerged as the two new team owners, but that has not stopped the Glazers from venturing into the cricket vertical.

They have bought one of the six franchises of the proposed UAE T20 League. Previously, Avram Glazer had expressed his delight by saying “I am very excited to be a part of UAE T20 at its formation. UAE T20 promises to be a world-class event that will be transformative to the growth of cricket in the Emirates,” he stated.
