After a rather torrid start in the IND vs ENG Test series, Rohit Sharma has finally reached the coveted 3-digit mark. And with this ton, he has become the oldest Indian skipper to score a century across all formats of the game.
The Indian skipper was finally dismissed on a soft dismissal. But the damage had already been done. Rohit departed on 131 after laying down India’s foundation. At the age of 36y 291days, Rohit became oldest captain for India to register a ton in Tests.
In the previous T20I series against Afghanistan, Rohit yet again scripted a history. He became the only batter to hammer 5 T20I hundreds. He also became oldest Indian skipper to slam a century in the shortest format of the game.
Interestingly, Rohit’s last ODI century came against Afghanistan. The Indian skipper blasted 131 runs against the Afghans in Delhi during the ODI World Cup.
With 14 fours and 3 sixes, Rohit surpassed MS Dhoni, and is now the second highest six hitter for India in Tests. India had a batting collapse in Rajkot when they were reduced to 33-3. Rohit Sharma took charge and along with Ravindra Jadeja, the duo steadied India’s ship.
After being dubbed as past his prime, Rohit Sharma has shut his haters in style. The India skipper has showcased that he still has the fire in his belly to slam big scores.
