Krunal Pandya’s Man of the Match Performances in the IPL
In all, Krunal Pandya has bagged six player of the match performances in his IPL career so far. The one against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Lucknow on Friday was his sixth in the league’s history. Senior Pandya, who had spent a lot of time with the Mumbai Indians early on in his IPL career, produced match-winning performances for them with both the bat and the ball.
His first four player of the match awards came for the Mumbai Indians between 2016 and 2017, where he batted in the lower middle order and took some crucial wickets. His best performance for MI came against the Rising Pune Supergiant in the IPL 2017 final, where he scored a match-winning 47 runs to help Mumbai win the match by 1 run.
It took Pandya five years to bag his first player of the match award for a franchise outside the Mumbai Indians. In 2022, Krunal Pandya won his fifth player of the match award against the Punjab Kings. He scored a mere seven runs, but he bagged two wickets and also took a catch.
Krunal’s excellent performance also keeps him in good stead for the rest of the season. A consistent performance should be good enough to open the national doors for the talented all-rounder, who has been in the shadows of his younger brother Hardik Pandya for a very long time now.
