Deepak Hooda walked into bat after the loss of Quinton de Kock’s wicket and soon saw his team slip to 29/4 in what is Lucknow Super Giants’ first-ever IPL game. Batting with rookie Ayush Badoni, Hooda took responsibility on himself to rescue his side and did so in fine style, scoring a counter-attacking half-century.
Much like Faf du Plessis the other night, Hooda took his time before taking the attack on Rashid Khan, smashing only his fourth fifty in IPL cricket. Hooda stitched a vital partnership with Badoni, to take his team to a respectable total.

While the former Punjab Kings star had a good outing, Lucknow struggled to capitalise, with Rahul Tewatia scoring a stunning 40 not out to take his team over the line.
