UP Warriorz Innings: Chasing a mammoth total, UPW were off to a blazing start. Captain Alyssa Healy was on song as she took on Marizanne Kapp and Shikha Pandey. But the joy was shortlived. Healy departed for 24 off 17 with Radha Yadav taking an excellent catch.
That was the momentum UP let slip. Kiran Navgire and Shweta Sehrawat paid for their inexperience and departed in quick succession. It was Jess Jonassen who set the tone with two wickets in her first over. First, she dismissed Healy and then Navgire. India’s U19 World Cup winner Sehrawat fell nicked a swinging Kapp delivery.

With Deepti Sharma and Tahlia McGrath on the crease, UPW had hopes. But Deepti was off to poor start, scoring just 1 off her first 10 deliveries. Even though Tahlia picked up the pace, Deepti failed to do so and departed for 12 off 20.
It was Tahlia McGrath from that moment with some excellent shots. But Devika Vaidya stuttered just like Deepti. With the scoring rate dipping below 7, UPW could not recover. Tahlia smashed her half-century off 28 balls and then led a late charge with 11 4s and 4 huge 6s. But her efforts went in vain. Ultimately, she remained unbeaten on 50-ball 90 for WPL’s highest score but UP Warriorz could only post 169/5.

Delhi Capitals Innings: Put to bat first, Delhi Capitals got off to a blistering start. Openers Meg Lanning and Shafali Verma took the team’s total beyond the 60-run mark in under 6 overs. In the 6th over of the game, Lanning and Shafali hammered Rajeshwari Gayakwad for 17 runs.
Tahlia McGrath gave her team a big breakthrough as she removed dangerous batter Shafali Verma for 17 in the 7th over of the game. Lanning in red-hot form slammed a 32-ball fifty in the 9th over of the game while keeping pressure on UP Warriorz. The match was paused for some time due to rain.
The right-handed batter Jemimah Rodrigues then came out to bat at the crease. Lanning continued her blistering form and slammed UP bowlers all around the ground. Lanning went back to the pavilion after scoring 70 off 42.
Jonassen and Rodrigues played some outstanding shots to pile up 19 runs from Tahlia McGrath’s over. The blistering duo of Jonassen and Rodrigues guided their team to a competitive total of 211/4 in 20 overs.
