Women’s Hundred Auction live: The Hundred is set to enter a new phase as the first-ever auction is here. The women’s auction started on March 11, where a hosts of stars were sold in the first phase. Beth Mooney and Sophie Devine fetched price of £210,000 each. The second phase saw Indian players Shree Charani and Richa Ghosh go unsold. It was a good day for the English and South African players, while the buyers did not seem to be much interested in other lot.
The biggest talking point from an Indian perspective is the presence of several national stars in the auction pool. Deepti Sharma, Richa Ghosh, Shreyanka Patil and Shree Charani are among the dozen Indian players hoping to land deals when the bidding begins. Smriti Mandhana has already been signed by Manchester Super Giants alongside Australian legend Meg Lanning, giving the side a star-studded look even before the auction starts. Interestingly, India captain Harmanpreet Kaur does not feature in the longlist.
