Royal Challengers Bengaluru made it a hat-trick of wins at home as struggling Lucknow Super Giants suffer once again.

Virat Kohli bossed over the powerplay with 40 off 20 as RCB posted 60/1 in a 147 chase. Rajat Patidar (27 off 13) and Jitesh Sharma (23 off 9) were in a hurry to finish the game off. In the end, RCB chased the target down in just 15.1 overs. Lucknow Super Giants posted 146 after being sent to bat.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru pacers dominated, with Aiden Markram (40 off 32), Ayush Badoni (38 off 24), and Mukul Choudhary (39 off 28) managing to offer some resistance. Rasikh Salam, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Josh Hazlewood were excellent. Rishabh Pant had to retire hurt in the powerplay after getting hit on the elbow by a Josh Hazlewood delivery. Pant returned to bat again but lasted just three deliveries and didn’t return to keep. Virat Kohli came in as the impact sub and punished the LSG bowlers. He’s unbeaten on 40 after the powerplay. Phil Salt went early, as Prince Yadav struck in the second over.
Pace bowling show
It was not a familiar M Chinnaswamy pitch that had a lot of runs. It seemed more like a Lucknow pitch where LSG struggled. The pacers found purchase with little swing, and the deliveries skidded off the surface. That, coupled with the poor form of Lucknow batters, did not help. Sent to bat, LSG lost Aiden Markram in the 4th over with just 32 runs on the board. Rishabh Pant also had to retire hurt after facing three deliveries of Josh Hazlewood as he was hit on the elbow.
With a powerplay score of just 35/2, LSG needed to push through. But Rasikh Salam Dar and Krunal Pandya made it difficult. Rasikh picked up 4 wickets for 24 runs as the partnership between Mitchell Marsh and Ayush Badoni came to an end in the 10th over. Then on, it was a struggle once again. Pant came back to bat again but lasted only three balls. LSG were bowled out for 146 in 20 overs with not enough runs on the board.

Even as Phil Salt fell early in the 2nd over. But it was Virat Kohli who silenced the strike rate critics. He came on in as an Impact sub and took charge with a 20-ball 40 in the powerplay with a 200 strike rate. Kohli, who is still under the weather and nursing a knee injury, missed out on his 66th IPL fifty by just one run. However, Rajat Patidar and Jitesh Sharma ensured it did not matter. Patidar hit 27 off 13, while Jitesh smashed 23 off 9 to take RCB closer. Tim David and Romario Shepherd completed the formalities in just 15.1 overs with five wickets to spare.
