RR vs GT, IPL 2026: GT post 77-run win, go 2nd on points table

Bangs it in short again, and Shanaka cannot control it. He is caught for 16 and GT are only a wicket away from a massive win. Ends in in the same over and Titans win by 77 runs.

Holder comes up with an excellent bouncer and Archer has no clue. Shanaka runs and the batter doesn't respond. Holder throws the ball back to Rashid, but the latter misses it. On the very next delivery though, Archer is caught by the keeper on a similar delivery.

Rashid come for his last over and here comes the fourth wicket. This time it is Ravindra Jadeja, who has to make way back. The ball strikes his left pad, and it looks on middle and off. Yes, out. Brilliant bowling by the Afghani.

Rashid Khan has picked up his third wicket of the night and his victim this time is Shubham Dubey. RR should look to get 200 at the very least.

It would be really interesting to see, what Jaddu can do here. He has an opportunity to become a hero again. It has been long since he impressed with the bat in the format.

Suddenly RR batting is looking quite lean, with no Riyan Parag. That just shows, how uncomfortable teams are to make some big changes when the time comes.

Jurel can't read a well-directed googly from Rashid Khan. He is out for 24 from 10 here. Looks like all done for RR. And second one comes in the over. A similar length, and this time the ball goes away from the batter, and crashes into the stumps.

It just looks, Hetmyer can't bat in India. He came back in the side and he has shown, why he should not be in the XI. Skies the ball from Rabada and is caught by Holder.

A good over for RR as Jurel is showing his class here. Siraj is being taken for a few runs. Two sixes and a four in the over. Hetmyer would get a lot of confidence from this. Make it three sixes in the over.

Rabada bowls a fiery one to Jaiswal, and the skipper can't keep it down. He has been caught out for only 3. This match is in GT's pockets now.

The attack by Sooryavanshi continues as he gets three fours in the over. Oh. and there you go. He tries to pull a short one, but short fine leg takes a good catch. He is out for 36 from 16.

The way Sooryavanshi is yoying with Kagiso Rabada, makes one feel, that he is a gully cricketer. Two consecutive sixes in the over, even edges are flying to the boundary.

Siraj starts and now he bowls to Sooryavanshi. The latters has smacked that one into the crowds. And the very next one, he chops one on to his ankle. Not good signs for RR. An eventful over comes to an end.

21 runs come from the final over of Tushar Deshpade and Gujarat Titans make it to 229/4 at the end of 20 overs - their highest total in IPL 2026. The total could have been contained to a lesser one but the RR pacer conceded three sixes in the 20th over. Now, RR need 230 runs to win the match. Should RR chase down the target, it will be their highest-ever chase.

Brijesh Sharma strikes as he gets rid of Jason Holder in the fag end of the innings. RR captain Yashasvi Jaiswal takes an easy catch to send the GT batter packing for just 7 runs.

GT go past the 200-run mark in the 18th over with a boundary from Jason Holder on his arrival to the crease. GT will be eyeing a huge finish.

Shubman Gill's fine knock comes to an end as the GT captain is dismissed after scoring 84 runs from 44 balls. He falls short of what would have been a well-deserved century. GT lose their 3rd wicket. Kudos to the batter as Gill suffered an injury scared earlier and managed to march on his way to the 80s.

Jofra Archer is still hunting for his first wicket of the evening as he continues to be expensive in the game against Titans. It is very evident that Shubman Gill is targeting the England pacer and has been successful so far.

Jos Buttler fails to fire against his former team as he departs after scoring just 13 runs off 10 balls, thanks to a catch taken off Jadeja's bowling. GT lose their 2nd wicket.

Gujarat Titans reach the 150-run mark in the 13th over as skipper Shubman Gill continues to fight on.

Sai Sudharsan has finally departed as Rajasthan Royals finally get the first breakthrough in the 11th over. The damage has been done, but the 118-run opening partnership has been broken as well.

After Sai Sudharsan, it is GT captain Shubman Gill who now gets to a 30-ball half-century. He has also gone past the 4000-run mark in the Indian Premier League as an opener, becoming the latest batter to do so.

After getting 82/0 in the powerplay, Titans have slowed down and have reached just 114/0 at the end of 10 overs. RR have finally managed to put the brakes on GT.

Sai Sudharsan slams a 30-ball half-century and he has struck 6 fours and 2 sixes so far.

It took 8 overs for RR to ensure that GT haven't scored a single boundary in an over. Jadeja does it for RR but the team is yet to get the first breakthrough. Nevertheless, the 100-run partnership comes up between Gill and Sudharsan.

Gujarat Titans have managed to reach 82/0 at the end of the powerplay as Shubman Gill (32 off 15) and Sai Sudharsan (39 off 22) have absolutely dominated the RR bowlers so far. Apart from the extras conceded and the missed opportunities and lose deliveries. GT are off to a very good start and RR have been no where close to their best so far.

Sai Sudharsan seemingly gets trapped for an LBW and RR were very confident that it was out. Sai Sudharsan is picking up the pace as he slams the first six of the innings for the Titans off Brijesh Sharma. GT reach 37/0 in 3 overs as RR still hunt for the first breakthrough.

It was a good over from Tushar Deshpande as only 8 runs are added to the Gujarat Titans' total. Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan are looking in good touch so far.

After 11 balls and conceding 18 runs, the first over from Jofra Archer finally comes to an end after taking 8 minutes to complete his over. 9 runs were conceded as extras in that over.

The Purple Cap holder of IPL 2025 - Pasidh Krishna - returns to the playing XI for GT after missing the last three games as the Titans take on RR in a must-win encounter. So far in IPL 2026, he has taken 12 wickets from 7 matches.

"Most of the games that we have played have been pretty close. So, it's all about doing that extra effort, putting that, if something is going well for you, having the belief to be able to have that execution. Yeah, I mean, we're going to see how the first couple of overs, 2-3 overs go. There's obviously a par score and then you want to get 10-15 extra on top of the pass score to give that extra cushion to the bowlers," the GT captain said after losing the toss.

Archer has bowled 20 overs in the powerplay and picked up 9 wickets, boasting an excellent strike rate of 13.3. His ability to strike early, often in his first over, has made him one of the most dangerous new-ball bowlers this season. While his economy of 8.7 reflects the attacking nature of his role, Archer’s primary value lies in breaking partnerships and setting the tone upfront.

Rabada, meanwhile, has gone a step further, emerging as the best powerplay wicket-taker this season with 11 wickets in 25 overs. His strike rate of 13.6 is remarkably close to Archer’s, highlighting similar effectiveness, although his slightly higher economy of 9.0 suggests teams have occasionally counterattacked him. Rabada’s strength lies in his consistency, hitting hard lengths, extracting bounce, and maintaining pressure over longer spells.

Rajasthan Royals stand-in captain Yashasvi Jaiswal decided to bowl first after winning the toss. He informs that the regular skipper Riyan Parag pulled his hamstring during the last game and hence misses out in this match. RR make multiple changes to their line-up. Gujarat Titans have been heavily reliant on their top three batters and all eyes will be on Sai Sudharsan, Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler as they are expected to go all guns blazing in order to get the side off to a good start. The trio were the leading run-getters for GT in the previous season, but have been sub-par in this season so far.

As per the commentators, Yashasvi Jaiswal is set to step in as the captain for RR in the game against GT, as Riyan Parag is unavailable. For the record, Jaiswal was one of the front-runners to succeed Sanju Samson as captain after IPL 2025, but the management decided to stick with Riyan instead.

While Gujarat is on a winning streak, Rajasthan Royals have a slight edge due to home advantage and their ability to exploit the Jaipur conditions. Expect a high-scoring thriller where RR’s spinners, led by Ravi Bishnoi, might be the difference-maker. Check the full match prediction for RR vs GT here. 

Rajasthan are the more puzzling side here. After starting strong, they've lost three of their last five. The most recent of those was a seven-wicket loss to Delhi Capitals where they put up 225 and watched it get chased down. 

The bowling is the issue, not the runs. Both their home games this season have seen them post 220-plus against SRH and DC, and both totals were chased down comfortably. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has 404 runs in 10 games, Yashasvi Jaiswal has 312, and Dhruv Jurel has chipped in with 290. Riyan Parag's 90 against DC at least suggests the captain is back among the runs. But someone, anyone, has to hold up the bowling end. 

Despite starting well, Jofra Archer and Nandre Burger have hit a slump in the last two games. RR need their two pacers back in form to chase the playoffs. 

Jaipur has been one of the more interesting venues this season. The historical IPL average for first innings here is 165, with second innings sitting at 152. IPL 2026 has thrown that out the window.

RR's two home games this season have both produced 220-plus first-innings totals. Both were chased down. The pitch is known for its balanced nature, but chasing 170-180 can be tricky because of low bounce and large square boundaries. That's the catch. When the ball comes onto the bat, batters cash in. When it doesn't, it gets ugly quickly.

Fast bowlers have done slightly better here, with spinners playing an important role through the middle overs. Chasing has historically been the easier option at Sawai Mansingh, which is why captains keep choosing to bowl first.

Gujarat have had the better of this rivalry since joining the league. In nine IPL meetings, GT lead 6-3, though Rajasthan have won the last two, including a six-run thriller at the Narendra Modi Stadium earlier this season.

RR have won just one of their three home games against GT. Not a great record at the best of times, and certainly not when the bowling is leaking like it is.
