IPL 2026 schedule updates: BCCI secretary reveals major update on fixtures

Well, it didn't happen on March 8. It didn't happen on March 9. And now, we will have to sit through March 10 and 11 for the BCCI to announce the IPL 2026 schedule. 

Devajit Saikia has told the media that the BCCI will be releasing the IPL 2026 schedule by March 12. This is because the board awaits for Election Commission to release the election dates, which are going to happen soon. Also, the IPL schedule will be released in two phases. 

For now, we wait. 

Just a day after the Petroleum Ministry admitted that fuel shortages are forcing them to prioritize homes and essential services, IPL chief Arun Dhumal confirmed that the league is keeping a very close eye on how the situation develops.

"We are reviewing the development. Since this is a evolving situation, nothing can be said as of now. But given the requirement of the situation, we will take a call accordingly," Dhumal told The New Indian Express.

Well, the rumours were true. It has been confirmed that the BCCI will release the IPL 2026 schedule by March 12. It all makes sense now since the Election Commission of India will be announcing the state-election dates on March 11. So, considering that, the IPL stakeholders will be releasing the IPL 2026 SCHEDULE on March 12, Thursday.

Well, a new twist is likely to come in. As per multiple tweets, the BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia, has told reporters that they will release the IPL 2026 schedule on March 12. However, the news isn't verified yet. It seems that the BCCI hasn't heard anything from the election committee yet.

As per reports, the BCCI will be dropping the IPL schedule in two phases due to state elections across various states. First batch (opening ~15-20 days) expected any time now today – likely in the evening IST

Fans are hopeful that the BCCI will release the IPL 2026 schedule today. It was previously reported that the BCCI will announce it on the day of the T20 World Cup 2026 final. However, it has been a couple of days since.
