India Women's T20 World Cup 2026 squad: No Harleen Deol, Amanjot Kaur in 15-member side

"I rate this team high and back them to win the title. There is no additional pressure or overconfidence," captain Harmanpreet Kaur said in the press conference on being asked if the Indian team are favourites to lift the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026. 

India women's Cricket team will assemble at the BCCI's CoE in Bengaluru for a 7-day preparatory camp before the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026. The same side will play the three-match T20I series against England just before the tournament.

Chief selector Amita Sharma says Harleen Deol is in the scheme of things and will play the Test match but the selectors prefer Fulmali when it comes to T20Is.

"She has a problem in her right knee. It's a serious injury and will require an operation medical team will provide an update," chief selector Amita Sharma and captain Kaur provide an update on Kashvee Gautam and why she hasn't been picked.

India women's cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur says it is very difficult to replace Amanjot Kaur but she misses out as the star is injured.

BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia is present to address the press conference to announce the squad for the T20 World Cup 2026, the England T20I series and the one-off Test in July.

Harmanpreet Kaur is all set to address a press conference shortly where the squad for the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 will be announced. 

India’s core group is more or less settled, but a few spots remain up for grabs. The biggest concern continues to be the bowling unit, especially after the South Africa series, where the Indian team took just 22 wickets at a poor bowling average of 37.4. Meanwhile, the hosts took almost 30 wickets at 27.44.

ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 hosts England were the first to announce their squad for the T20 World Cup earlier this week. A day later, New Zealand women became the second side to do so.

Despite being champions in the ODI format, India women's cricket team suffered a setback recently in T20Is after losing 4-1 to South Africa. The only win that the Women in Blue managed to get in the five-match series was in the 4th T20I where they clinched a 14-run win. However, they were largely outclassed by the Proteas Women.

Another all-rounder who will definitely go to England is Shreyanka Patil. The talented youngster missed out on the 50-over World Cup due to an injury but now she sets her sights on T20 World Cup glory. She had a superb WPL as well, and Patil has eight wickets at an economy of 8.06 so far in WT20Is this year. 

Headed by Amita Sharma, the new women’s selection committee will announce the 15-member squad. Other new selectors are Sulakshana Naik, Jaya Sharma and Sravanthi Naidu. Shyama Dey Shaw, part of the old committee, continues in the present panel too

The meeting to finalize the India women's cricket team squad for the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 is underway at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai, with captain Harmanpreet Kaur, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia, head coach Amol Muzumdar and the selectors in attendance.

Ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026, India women are scheduled to play three T20Is against England, which will start from May 28. This will serve as the final preparation stage for Harmanpreet Kaur and co. before the all-important tournament. This series will also be a blessing in disguise for the Women in Blue, as they can get accustomed to the conditions in England before the start of the WC.

In the previous edition of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup, India women managed to win just 2 out of 4 games. The team lost their tournament opener against New Zealand by 58 runs. They then bounced back with two consecutive victories against Pakistan (by 6 wickets) and Sri Lanka (by 82 runs). However, a loss to Australia resulted in the side getting knocked out of the tournament.
