IND-W vs NED-W: India register 95-run win over Netherlands

What are we just witnessing here... Now Shafali comes for another over, bags two wickets just like that, and India have won by 95 runs. Netherlands are all out for 114. At one stage they were only 92/3 in 13 overs, and this is a collapse of epic proportions.

And van den Raad seems to have been dismissed on the first delivery itself. Charani spins the ball from middle to off, and it just kisses the faintest of edges, back to the keeper. No hattrick for Charani. Safely blocked by Siegers. But third wicket does come in the over, as Zwilling skies one to mid wicket, but Jemi takes a simple catch. NED 114/8 in 17 overs.

It is one of those must win games for both SA and PAK, as they lost their opening matches. Now, it will be an excellent result for India, if Pakistan wins. Yes. That is because SA is somewhat on an Achilles Heel for the Indians, and they have already lost one against AUS. So, let's see. And in the meantime, Charani takes a second wicket, and Netherlands 6 down.

Charani bowls one full, and Robine attempts a sweep. But the latter misses the line, and she is out LBW. This is excellent bowling, and suddenly Netherlands are looking down the barrel. NED 105/5 in 15 ovs

She has been the most impressive pacers this year for India, and if she can add a couple of wickets here, she would be a handful in the tournament. And there you go... Babette is stumped. Out for 28 from 27.

Kranti finally creates an opportunity as Babette plays one through point, but Charani can't hold on to the catch. The bowler must be disappointed. NED 92/3 in 13 overs.

Well, treat Shafali as a part-timer at your own pril. She is a very smart bowler. Kalis was playing for the spin, but Shafali kept it straight, and the timber was disturbed. India have third wicket.

Shree Charani continues for her second over. One thing is for sure, if India has to go far in this tournament, Charani has a huge role to play. A good over comes to an end. NED 59/2 in 9 overs.

Deepti comes into the attack, flights the ball, and Phebe has to depart for only 15. She is now the highest wicket taker in women's cricket ever, and surpasses Jhulan Goswami. Netherlands 54/2 in 8 overs.

Shreyanka Patil has twisted her ankle. She's down on the ground. This looks real bad. It was an easy stop, but while grabbing the ball, she twisted her right ankle. The physio is out checking her.

Harmanpreet has decided to introduce an off-spinner, Shafali Verma, against two right-handed batters. Bold move but it didn't work as Shafali goes for 11 runs.

Much better from Kranti in her second over. She bowled full and outside off, which didn't allow Dutch openers to open up their arms. Just 2 off the 3rd over.

Netherlands openers Phebe Molkenboer and Heather Siegers are on the attack. 3 fours in the first two overs. The Dutch need to maximise the powerplay to have a chance. Nandini Sharma has tried the bouncer but it hasn't worked. Bowling full seems like the better option.

Kranti Gaud has started for India. She didn't a wicket in the previous match against Pakistan and will like to return to form against Netherlands.

What are the Dutch fielders doing? They have dropped yet another sitter, this time of skipper Harman. Not that it matters in this situation, but just doesn't look pretty. Finally Harman is removed and Zwilling has her first wicket. Deepti hits a six and IND get to 200 for the very first time in WCs. IND finish with 209/5 in 20 overs.

And three quick wickets for Netherlands here as 200 hopes seem to be dimnishing. She dances down the track but misses the line of the ball from de Lange. She is stumped. This is poor by Yastika. IND move to 177/4 in 18 overs.

Jemimah is caught behind now. She played well for her 19 from 12, but she had to go for her shots, so doesn't really hurt India. Small window opens for Netherlands. van den Raad gets a wicket. Richa Ghosh plays a nothing shot, but she has been dropped.

And just as one thought that Mandhana would get a ton, she has been caught out for 74. Zwilling takes a simple catch as Mandhana mistimes one. Nonetheless she has done a commendable job here. IND 162/2 in 16 overs.

Four fours in the over from Mandhana, and Siegers doesn't have a clue, the run rate is over 10 and 200 is a real possibility. IND 155/1 in 15 overs, and Mandhana is on 69.

There you go. Second consecutive 50 here for Mandhana, and this time it comes in only 36 deliveries. Can she go on till the very end and get a 100? We will have to wait and watch. Still 7 overs to go. IND 127/1 in 13 overs.

Shafali Verma has to depart here as she fails to connect well, to a widish delivery bowled by Siegers. The ball falls straight into the hands of Zwilling at the long off boundary. IND 121/1 in 12 overs.

And there you go, Shafali has scored her fifty in just 34 deliveries, with 9 fours. She must be itching to get a few sixes too, and we might just see a shift in gears from both the batters. Meanwhile this is her first ever in T20 World Cups. van den Raad is under the pump. IND 100/0

Last few overs, Netherlands have managed to keep these two openers quiet; but the problem for them is, they are well set, and can make up for the lost time easily. OH and as we say this, Shafali has struck three boundaries in Woning over.  IND 85/0 in 9 overs.

Caroline de Lange comes into the attack, and they need a wicket from her here. India is moving close to 200 despite the conditions. She comes up with a quiet over. IND 72/0 in 8 overs.

A testing over for Myrthe van den Raad. She gives away 6 wides in her first over and the 50 partnership is up for India. This is not looking good for the Netherlands. IND 59/0 in 6 overs, and the powerplay also comes to an end.

Mandhana is just continuing from where she left in the last match against Pakistan. In the fresh Zwilling over, she has hit the bowler for a couple of boundaries. IND 48/0 in 5 overs.

Zwilling comes back for her second over, and she has bowled well so far. Maybe she should get another over here. In fact, this has been a miserly over from her. just three runs come here. IND 26/0 in 3 overs.

Siegers comes into the attack, and she is more than a handful, when it comes to spin bowling. Shafali pierces one through point for a point. And Mandhana too ends with a boundary. IND 23/0 in 2 overs.

And the proceedings start here in the middle. And Iris Zwilling has been handed the ball. She is a really good bowler, has 100 wickets in the format. There is some movement in the air for sure. Shafali plays it through the slips for four. IND 9/0 in 1 over.

Both the openers are on the park, and unlike the last match, if Mandhana-Shafali can come up with a good opening stand, India can pile a huge score.

Let us just say, with the overcast conditions, and pitch assisting the bowlers, the first target India would have in mind would be, to surpass 150. Post that, everything will be a bonus.

India have made two changes to their XI that won against Pakistan. Yastika Bhatia is back for Bharti Fulmali, while Nandani Sharma takes Arundhati Reddy's place.

India women captain Harmanpreet Kaur and Babette de Leede walk to the middle for the toss. De Leede calls it correctly and Netherlands opt to bowl first under overcast conditions. 

The Netherlands are in a tougher spot. They lost their opener to Bangladesh and are still figuring out tournament cricket as debutants. Captain Babette de Leede showed some real resilience with a half-century in that game, so they're not here just to make up the numbers. But keeping India's batting lineup quiet will take something special from Iris Zwilling and Silver Siegers.

India Women come in off a 64-run win over Pakistan. Smriti Mandhana scored a half-century in the opener, and Deepti Sharma's five-wicket haul made the bowling look seriously threatening, or as it seemed.

In the batting, Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodrigues and Bharti Fulmali failed to fire, while others, including Smriti Mandhana and Harmanpreet Kaur, looked rusty. The bowling was equally poor, with the pacers going for aplenty. India may need to take a look at their combination and bring in Renuka Thakur and Yastika Bhatia.

Headingley's pitch tends to favour bowlers early, with seamers getting movement and bounce through the powerplay. It usually flattens out as the innings goes on, and spinners can become relevant in the middle overs. Chasing looks the smarter option if you win the toss. Hence, the conditions might influence India to bring in Renuka Thakur.

The weather in Leeds will be mostly cloudy with a 20% chance of rain during the day. But it’s not enough to seriously threaten play.

This is the first-ever meeting between these two in a T20I. They've crossed paths in ODIs before, where India lead 3-0, but today's match is a clean slate. The last time India faced the Netherlands was back in 2000.
