India-W vs Bangladesh-W: IND win big, move closer to semis berth

Team India have cleared the Bangladesh hurdle, and win by 5 wickets here. That will certainly improve their NRR, but India have to gear up for the big match; the encounter against Australia on June 28. But Well done for now.

So not needed by Jemi. She already had a couple of boundaries in the over, and yet she went for it. The ball takes an outside edge and is caught in gully. Out for 26 from 15.

It looks like the Indian innings has come to a standstill. Despite an excellent start, the middle order has collapsed again. Finally, Jemimah hits a six over long on. Oh, she can tonk the ball too. A boundary has come after 23 deliveries. A four to end the over. IND 119/4 in 15 overs

What the hell is up with you, Richa. Once again, she tries to play a sweep in front of the stumps. This time Rabeya manages to get her out LBW. India losing uncecessary wickets here.

Ritu has a wicket of the very first ball, and Yastika would be very disappointed with herself. She is out for 23, whereas she could have finished the game here. Nonetheless, Jemi has come out in the middle now. IND 97/3 in 12 overs.

Oh no. Nahida has another wicket here. Richa smashes her for twin boundaries, but then gets too ambitious. She tries to sweep and the ball just keeps straight, and crashes into the pads. She has to take the long walk back. Oh wait.... DRS shows that the ball was pitching outside off, and she survives. IND 94/2 in 11 overs.

Richa Ghosh has come above Jemi and Harman. So the idea is clear, that India are looking to finish things off early. That is keeping in mind, the NRR. It is 85/2 in 10 overs.

And finally Shafali has been stumped for 53. Nahida bowls one wide, and the batter looks to cut. But the ball goes to the keeper, and Shafali has no idea. She remains out of crease, and is stumped. IND 76/2 in 9 overs.

Another boundary for Shafali and she has brought up her 50 in only 29 deliveries. This is her 2nd this edition of the WC, and 18th overall. That is a massive feat for the still very young batter. IND 73/1 in 8 overs.

Shanjida has no idea, where to bowl to Shafali. The manages to get two back-to-back boundaries in the V. This is exceptional batting from the opener. Powerplay is done and IND move to 63/1 in 6 overs.

The team management seems to be having a lot of faith in Yastika, and she now needs to repay that trust with a big innings. Next up will be Australia, where each and every batter will have to fire. So far, two boundaries in as many deliveries for her. IND 51/1 in 5 overs.

The way Shafali is going, before Bangladesh realise, India will end the competition. Something has to give, for BAN. And India get four byes. Joty lets this one go through. And Marufa is silently walking back to her mark. And she needs some medical attention. Oh Smriti has played one to the covers fielder and she is out for 8.

Left-arm spinner Shanjida comes into the attack and she has been greeted with a six over long on. And then comes a four through long off. Expensive over comes to an end. IND 23/0 in 2 overs.

Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana start the proceedings for India. Marufa Akter would be looking for that early in-swing. Oh god, skipper-keeper has dropped one. The ball moves away, and Shafali edges. But survives. IND 11/0 in 1 over.

Just 36 runs in the last 5 overs and 5 wickets lost for Bangladesh. 150 on was the cards but India pulled the game back in the end. It could still be a tough task for India.

Sharmin Akhter is retired out and Ritu Moni comes in for her. Sharmin was struggling, 10 (12). Moni too departs, scoring 8 (4). Bangladesh have completely lost their way and from 96/3 in 14 overs, they'll likely end up around 140.

Radha has been India's best bowler today. She picks her second wicket. Once again, a loopy ball outside off. Sultana steps out to go over the top but misses, and Richa completes an easy stumping.

A proper hammering by Nigar Sultana. 17 came off the 14th over as the Bangladesh captain smashed 4 fours to Nandini in her 3rd over. Bangladesh are now back on track.

Radha Yadav has her first wicket of the T20 World Cup. A loopy delivery way outside off and Mostary looks to loft it over long off. She doesn't get the power or elevation, and Deepti Sharma claims an easy catch. Radha will be happy after dropping a catch earlier today.

Renuka returns to bowl her third over as Nandini Sharma gets a break. Bangladesh clearly plans to build and then explode at the end. Will that be enough?

Finally, a fielder holds onto the catch. Nandini Sharma, who bowled a no-ball and a wide in the 9th over, takes a fine catch in her follow-through. She had dropped 2 catches before. A 51-run stand has been broken, with Ferdous going back for 33 off 31.

Bangladesh hasn't been able to score freely after the field opened up. Just 11 runs in 2 overs. The run rate is just over 6.

End of an eventful powerplay. 4 drops and still Bangladesh managed to get just 40 runs. One has to say Bangladesh might be slightly ahead. They have 2 set batters now and the Indian fielders will be down on confidence.

Radha Yadav, India's best fielder, has another catch. A sitter. But that wasn't the end. In the 5th over, Nandini Sharma dropped two catches. The first was a straightforward one, while the second one needed her to dive to her right. 4 catches dropped in 5 overs, 3 of those in the space of 4 balls. A shocking performance in the field.

Yastika Bhatia has dropped Juairiya Ferdous. Sree Charani replaced Shafali and created a chance, but Yastika failed to hang on. Ferdous goes for the sweep but edges it. The ball goes towards square leg. The fielder doesn't judge it well, dives in the end, and makes a meal of it.

Renuka Singh Thakur missed her lines a bit and bowled 3 wides, but managed to get some swing and picked up a wicket on the last ball of the over. It wasn't the best ball, but Dilara hit the ball straight to Sree Charani at deep square leg.
