GT vs SRH, IPL 2026: Gujarat Titans win by 82 runs

Rashid Khan gets the final wicket as Sunrisers Hyderabad are bowled out for just 86 runs in match 56 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. A comprehensive win for GT which also means that they climb to the top of the IPL 2026 points table, boasting of a NRR of +0.551.

Krishna strikes once again as Pat Cummins is the latest SRH batter to depart. GT get their 9th wicket as the SRH captain is forced to walk back after scoring 19 off 9 balls

Shivang Kumar is caught behind by Jos Buttler while attempting a scoop shot off Jason Holder. The Caribbean star gets his 3rd wicket as SRH lose their 8th wicket.

Nitish Kumar Reddy departs as Washington Sundar takes an excellent catch to hand Jason Holder his second wicket. SRH are 7 down now, and a defeat seems imminent.

A top-edge from Jason Holder results in Heinrich Klaasen being dismissed by Jos Buttler, who takes a good catch. SRH are 6 down and are in all sorts of trouble now.

Prasidh Krishna strikes on his return as he dismisses Salil Arora for 16 runs off 13 balls. Sunrisers Hyderabad have lost half their side now,

Gujarat Titans have finally managed to go past the 50-run mark, and get there in the 9th over. They still need over 10 runs an over to win the game.

Two deliveries after Siraj drops Smaran Ravichandran, the batter is caught out by Shubman Gill. Smaran departs for just 9 runs as Rabada gets his 3rd wicket. GT finish with 34/4 at the end of the powerplay, their lowest in IPL 2026

Mohammed Siraj draws the first blood as he cramps Travis Head for room and manages to get him caught out in the very first over. GT are off to a very good start.

Sakib Hussain comes on for the last over. Looking at the pitch, this should be a challenging score. But you never know with the kind of batting SRH have. One batter comes good, and this total could be chased down in 10-12 overs. Innings comes to an end. But then Washi does manage to score a 50 in 33 deliveries.

160 is what GT need at the minimum. The pitch is not that bad, but somehow SRH came up with good bowling. All hopes on Washi, and he comes up with a couple of boundaries.

Now Hussain has the wicket of Sai Su. There was no need of this shot. Sai Su tries to go for a scoop, but the bowler follows him. He is caught out by Hinge and Jason Holder comes now.

Slowly, GT have reached a place, where they really need to accelerate. 170 should be the bare minimum they should be looking at. The oppsosition has some of the most explosive batters. Ishan, Abhishek, Travis Head and Heinrich Klaasen.

A top innings from Sai Su on a testing pitch. He gets his 50 in 38 deliveries. And now he has the orange cap as well. Goes past Heinrich Klaasen for now. Another boundary to end the over.

Finally that moment has come when Sai Su gets some big shots going. He slams Sakib over his head for a six. The idea will be to stay till the very end on the crease.

Just about when Sindhu was looking for a big one, He has played it into the hands of wide long off. The bat seems to have twisted in his hands, and Cummins has a wicket.

The pitch is on the slower side, but then the boundaries need to keep coming. Sudharsan has got his eye in, and he needs to take charge. Sakib Hussain comes into the attack now.

NKR bowls a short one, and Sindhu scoops it over third man. Oh, Hinge runs backwards to catch the ball... can't control his movement, but manages to save some runs. Good effort.

Gujarat Titans have managed to get to just 34/2, their lowest powerplay score in IPL 2026. The team lost two wickets within the first six overs.

Praful Hinge gets rid of Jos Buttler as the SRH batter edges a delivery to the wicketkeeper. SRH take a review and the ultra-edge shows the ball nicking past the bat as it makes its way to the keeper's gloves. GT lose their 2nd wicket.

Nitish Kumar Reddy concedes just 5 runs from his second over as GT reach 26/1 from 5 overs

Dangerman Gill has been removed early. Gill skies it and Klaasen takes a simple catch. That is what you call a soft dismissal. Should have tried to build the innings, like he does so well.

Oh god, another chance has gone down in the tournament. Gill just leans into a stright drive; NKR stretches his hand, and the ball pops out. It should have been the first wicket here.

Both the batters are at the crease, and Cummins is ready to take the first over. It is a clean over as just five runs come from it.

This Ahmedbad wicket has thrown a few challenges to the batters, and 190-200 might just be an excellent score on this wicket. But given the SRH line up is, anything can fall short.

Sunrisers Hyderabad are also unchanged. Travis Head will come as an Impact sub when SRH bat.

Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins won the toss and opted to bowl against Gujarat Titans.

A win puts them to 16 points and strengthens their Qualifier 1 claim. But there's more to it than just the two points. NRR is a live factor for SRH at the top of the table, and they need to maintain that. A narrow win isn't as useful as a big one. A loss, meanwhile, drops them back to 14 and lets other sides with games in hand chase them down.

A win tonight takes them to 16 points from 12 games with two to play. That's a position from which a Qualifier 1 berth becomes genuinely likely rather than just possible. They're already in the playoffs conversation. Win this, and they're at the front of it. However, GT will have to be mindful of their net run rate (0.228). With RCB, SRH and PBKS are on better NRR, GT need to improve theirs to push for a Top-2 finish.

SRH are the tournament's most destructive batting side and they're not particularly close to second. They've crossed 200 eight times this season, including 249 against Mumbai. Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head and Heinrich Klaasen have all gone past 400 runs. Three batters, all past 400 in the same season. That's not normal. 

Eshan Malinga has 16 wickets, while Pat Cummins' return has brought more control to the unit. The concern is the bit below the top four. If early wickets fall, the middle order hasn't been properly tested yet. Against Rabada and Siraj swinging it with the new ball and Rashid-Prasidh waiting in the middle overs, it won't be easy for SRH batters.

GT's comeback from a slow start is the story of the second half of IPL 2026. They have won four on the bounce, including a 77-run hammering of Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur. The batting has always been there. It's the bowling that's clicked at exactly the right time. In their last two home games at this venue, GT restricted both RCB and PBKS to sub-170 totals, which were then chased down comfortably by Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan and Jos Buttler. 

That's a specific template and they've executed it well twice in a row. Rashid Khan leads the wicket charts between overs 7 and 16 this season with 13 dismissals. Rabada and Siraj have been consistently hitting hard lengths up front, and Jason Holder's arrival has quietly filled the gap in the lower middle order. GT at home right now is a problem for anyone.

The Narendra Modi Stadium has played differently from its reputation this season. The flat, run-heavy track it's known for has been replaced, at least in GT's home games, by something with more teeth in the last two games. 

GT's last two home games here have produced sub-170 first innings, against RCB and then PBKS, both successfully chased. That's the combination of GT's bowling discipline and a surface that's been helping the hard-length approach. The pitch hasn't been the high-scoring belter Ahmedabad usually offers.

There's a slight dew factor in Ahmedabad in summer evenings, and the chasing side has a marginally better record at this venue because of it. Captains will factor that into the toss call. Bowl first, keep it under 180, let the batting do the rest. GT have run this play twice this month. They'll want to run it again.

This is a rivalry GT have owned. Five wins from seven IPL meetings, with SRH managing just one victory and one game washed out. At Ahmedabad specifically, it's worse for the visitors. SRH have lost all three of their matches against GT at the Narendra Modi Stadium since 2023.
