Punjab Kings recover from 47/5 in 8.4 overs to 163/9 in 20 overs. Rashid Khan concedes 14 runs off the last over. Mohd Siraj (2/28), Kagiso Rabada (2/22) and Jason Holder (4/24) set the platform for Gujarat Titans. While Suryansh Shedge and Marcus Stoinis rescued them with a 79-run stand, once the partnership was broken, Punjab could ot have a score over 170-180. Shedge scored a brilliant 29-ball 57.

Marco Jansen hit Rashid Khan for a six and a four but the Afghan star gets his man on the penultimate delivery. Jansen tried to hit it through the covers but Shubman Gill was there and he made no mistake in taking the catch. Jansen departs for 20.

What could have been an easy catch and a wicket for Arshad Khan has now been registered as a dropped catch. It is not Manav Suthar's day. After leaking 27 runs in one over, he drops a dolly. Marco Jansen played a flick but had no timing and as the ball sails towards mid wicket, Suthar dropped it.

Jason Holder gets his 4th wicket with an excellent delivery. Perfect length and the ball clips the stumps.

Punjab Kings need Marcus Stoinis to stay till the end but Jason Holder bags his second to dismiss him. Short outside off and Stoinis tried to pull the delivery but could not time it well and gave away a catch to Washington Sundar.

An excellent knock by Suryansh Shedge comes to an end. He played well so far but he tried to play an upper cut against Kagiso Rabada's short ball. However, Shedge did not have any room to play the shot and he poked it to Jos Buttler. PBKS 6 down for 126. And with that, the 79-run stand also comes to an end.

Suryansh Shedge brings up his half-century off just 24 balls. 27 of them came in Manav Suthar's over. This knock could be the turning point of the match.

Suryansh Shedge takes on Manav Suthar and sends him to the cleaners with 27 runs off the over. He hits Suthar for three sixes and two fours. 

The Punjab Kings ship seems to be steady now with Marcus Stoinis and Suryansh Shedge taking charge. The runs have started to flow with the pitch easing out.

After 10 overs, Punjab Kings are in a spot of bother with just 51 runs on board with five wickets falling. Marcus Stoinis andSuryansh Shedge are on the crease but they may need to go for a batting impact sub to salvage the score.

Jason Holder strikes again and Punjab Kings are 5 down with their captain, Shreyas Iyer, playing down. The delivery skidded off the surface and as Iyer tried to play on the back foot, the ball hit the toe end of the bat and castled the stumps.

Jason Holder joins the party after the powerplay and he dismisses Nehal Wadhera for a duck. Punjab are 4 down as Wadhera pokes it to Buttler.

End of powerplay and Punjab Kings manage just 35/3. Mohammed Siraj and Kagiso Rabada were all over PBKS batters.

The resistance ends as Prabhsimran Singh departs to a 152kph delivery of Kagiso Rabada. Prabhsimran tried to slog but did not time it well against the fast delivery and deposited the ball directly to Manav Suthar. PBKS 3 down in the powerplay.

After the two blows in the first over, Punjab Kings have steadied the ship. Shreyas Iyer and Prabhsimran Singh are anchoring the innings, instead of going all guns blazing.

Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill wins the toss and opts to bowl first against Punjab Kings.

In the GT vs PBKS battle, there will be a mini-battle between the two captains. Shubman Gill is the ODI and Test captain and was once the favourite to take over from Suryakumar Yadav as the T20I captain. But Shreyas Iyer has emerged as a potential option, leading DC, KKR and PBKS to the IPL final, winning the trophy with KKR. The two captains will go head to head in Ahmedabad and will look to outsmart one another.

Punjab Kings' vulnerability, for the first time this season, has been exposed. Their perfect run was halted by Rajasthan Royals earlier this week, but the bigger story is that they still lead the standings with 13 points from eight games, and RCB, SRH and RR are just a point behind them. Their batting has been their calling card. 

Prabhsimran Singh has 346 runs at a strike rate of 179, and Priyansh Arya's 283 runs have come at a stunning strike rate of 250. They've also chased down historic totals recently, including the mammoth 265 against Delhi Capitals. But the Royals defeat showed that even PBKS can be unsettled, and with Marcus Stoinis slightly quiet in recent outings, there's a vulnerability if the top order doesn't fire.

Gujarat Titans are peaking at exactly the right moment. Back-to-back wins over CSK and then RCB have them fifth on the table with 10 points, and the recent injection of Jason Holder in place of an out-of-form Glenn Phillips has added genuine balance to their side. Holder was the Player of the Match against RCB, contributing significantly across batting, bowling and fielding, and Shubman Gill led the chase brilliantly with a quick-fire 43 off 18 balls, supported by Jos Buttler's 39 off 19.

The pitch has utilised red and black soil combinations, offering consistent "true" bounce that allows batters to play through the line once they settle in. While the square boundaries are relatively large (60-72m), the lightning-fast outfield usually compensates for it.

The most important stat for bowlers: fast bowlers have claimed over 67% of the wickets at this venue this season, finding some lateral movement with the new ball. That's where Rabada and the GT pace unit, or Arshdeep and co. for Punjab, will make their mark. As the match progresses, the black soil sections may offer grip for spinners like Rashid Khan and Yuzvendra Chahal, so the middle overs become a fulcrum.

This is one of the cleaner rivalries in IPL terms. The most recent meeting between GT and PBKS this season came at Mullanpur, where Punjab Kings edged out Gujarat by three wickets in a last-over thriller, with Cooper Connolly delivering the match-winning knock. That reverse fixture result will be fresh in GT's mind as they prepare for Sunday's home encounter.
