The Season 11 Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) Draft, held on Thursday in Melbourne, featured a total of 23 players being selected. India’s Jemimah Rodrigues was the sole Indian to be drafted, retained by Brisbane Heat as a middle-order option. The draft saw a strong English presence with 12 players picked, alongside five South Africans, two each from New Zealand and the West Indies, and one Sri Lankan.
Notably, Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu and South African pacer Shabnim Ismail were signed by Sydney Thunder, who also secured England’s Heather Knight in their lineup.
