As the country progresses through subsequent phases, including the upcoming third phase on May 7, the democratic spirit continues to thrive, reflecting the essence of India's vibrant democracy.

Rahul Dravid, the former Indian cricket captain and current head coach of the Indian team, made a notable appearance at a polling booth in Bengaluru on Friday to cast his vote for the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.

In a display of civic duty, Dravid joined the queue like any other citizen before exercising his right to vote. Speaking to the media after casting his vote, Rahul Dravid emphasised the importance of voting, stating, “Everyone must come out and vote. It is an opportunity we get in a democracy.”

Rahul Dravid’s former teammate and legendary spinner, Anil Kumble, also participated in the electoral process in Bengaluru.

T20 World Cup Squad Announcement Looms

With less than a week remaining until the announcement of the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup, speculations are rife about the final selection. While Rohit Sharma is expected to lead the side, there are still some spots up for grabs.

Reports suggest that chief selector Ajit Agarkar, along with Rohit Sharma and coach Rahul Dravid, will convene over the weekend to finalise the squad. It is anticipated that the announcement may be made within the next 72 hours, adding to the excitement among cricket enthusiasts.

Karnataka Goes to Polls in Second Phase

Karnataka, a crucial state contributing 28 seats to the 543-member Parliament, is undergoing the second phase of Lok Sabha elections on Friday. Polling is being conducted for 14 seats across various constituencies in the state, including Udupi Chikamagalur, Hassan, Dakshina Kannada, and Bangalore Central, among others.

The voting process commenced at 7 am and will continue until 6 pm, providing citizens with the opportunity to participate in shaping the nation’s democratic process.

The Lok Sabha election, hailed as the world’s largest electoral exercise, kicked off its first phase on April 19 across 21 states and union territories. With a voter turnout exceeding 62 per cent, the electoral process witnessed significant public engagement.
