Rinku Singh credits MS Dhoni for reason behind his calmness after Mohali win

Rinku Singh has credited former skipper MS Dhoni for his calmness on the field following team's win over Afghanistan in the 1st T20I at Mohali.

India batter Rinku Singh has credited former skipper MS Dhoni for his composure and calmness on the field following team’s win in IND vs AFG 1st T20I at Mohali on Thursday.

Rinku once again played the finisher’s role to perfection, scoring an unbeaten 16 and guiding India home.

Speaking after the game, Rinku revealed that he has become habitual of coming at number 6 and finishing the game for his team.

“I have got a habit of batting at 6 and finishing games, I’m feeling very happy with this job. Enjoyed the cold conditions, it was tough while fielding though. I just try to talk to myself, batting at 6, I don’t have the chance to face too many balls or score too many runs, that’s the thing I keep telling myself”, Rinku said.

He went on to credit Dhoni for staying calm and composed during high pressure situations, saying that he spoke to the former India captain during IPL who told him to remain calm and react to the ball.

“I’ve spoken with Mahi bhai (MS Dhoni), he just told me to react according to the ball, keep your calm and I just do the same thing. I don’t think a lot while batting, just react to the ball”, the batter added.

Rinku has had a stunning start to his T20I career, scoring 278 runs in 9 innings at a strike rate of 180.51 and average of 69.50.
