Kwena Maphaka reminded of different of quality as youngster concedes most expensive spell in IPL debut

SRH vs MI: Dale Steyn points of different in quality as Kwena Maphaka concedes most expensive spell in IPL debut

It was not the debut that Kwena Maphaka was expecting. The 17-year-old pacer made his debut for Mumbai Indians in the SRH vs MI clash. And to his bad fate, the young Proteas was bludgeoned for 66 runs in his 4 over spell. The youngster bowled the most expensive spell on an IPL debut. Taking cue on the matter, Dale Steyn claimed how U19 and Professional league are different from each other.

Sunrisers Hyderabad shattered all records. They went on to register the highest score ever in the history of the Indian Premier League. SRH amassed 277/3 after the end of 20 overs. While the MI bowlers failed to provide any dividends, Kwena Maphaka ended up conceding the most runs for his side.

Prior to this tournament, Kwena Maphaka participated in the ICC U19 World Cup for South Africa. But it was the Baptism of Fire for the youngster in the game. Dale Steyn took to social media to comment on the matter. He claimed that the youngster is now going to realise the different in quality and class between a U19 tournament and a Professional League in the World.

The youngster went on to surpass Michael Neser’s earlier record. Michael Neser earlier in 2013 gave away 62 runs on his debut in the PBKS vs RCB clash in Mohali.
