Rajasthan Royals are no longer unbeaten in IPL 2024. RR’s progress in the league was halted by Gujarat Titans in a thrilling encounter. Despite the loss, Kumar Sangakkara has spoken highly of his side. The Lankan legend claimed good things will happen for Riyan Parag if he continues to play like this.
Positives – Team Batted Well
“We batted well. Sanju and Riyan re-built the innings. Jaiswal looked well and these are the positives. Kuldeep Sen coming back bowled 3 brilliant overs. We lost in the backend, didn’t use the pitch well. They played well and took advantage of a few mistakes that we made,” said Kumar Sangakkara after the game.
In a rain curtailed affair, Rajasthan Royals had to bat first. They went on to amass 196 runs on the board. Jaiswal looked good with his knock of 24 runs. But Sanju Samson’s 68 from 38 and Riyan Parag’s 78 from 48 was once again the highlight of the show.
Good things will happen for Riyan Parag
Riyan Parag has been in tremendous form in IPL 2024. The young batter has performed really well this season batting at number 4. His 78 run knock now keeps him second on the Most Runs Scored List in IPL 2024, behind Virat Kohli.
“His potential is there for everyone to see. For him it is about concentrating about Rajasthan and this season. Whatever happens will happen after that. You shouldn’t be too ahead of yourself in terms of looking things too ahead in the future. He is working very hard, batting really well. And if he continues to do that, good things will happen,” Sangakkara concluded.
