KS Bharat or Dhruv Jurel? Parthiv Patel gives verdict on who should be India’s pick for Rajkot Test

In the absence of Rishabh Pant and now Ishan Kishan, Bharat has become one of India's top wicketkeepers. However, the 30-year-old has failed to impress in his short 7-match career.

KS Bharat’s batting let him and the India cricket team down in the ongoing India vs England Test series. The right-handed wicketkeeper batter has scored just 92 runs in the four outings he’s gotten. Having played seven Tests in his career so far, Bharat averages a miserly 20.09 with not even one fifty to his name in 12 innings.

These statistics paint a sorry picture for Bharat. In Ishan Kishan’s absence, the wicketkeeper from Vizag has gotten a long run but failed to impress. This may prompt Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma to look past him and invariably go for Dhruv Jurel for the India vs England 3rd Test.

Former Indian wicketkeeper batter Parthiv Patel has also given his two cents on the matter. Talking about Bharat’s poor run with the bat, Parthiv, while talking with JioCinema, said:

“As far as runs are concerned, yes, you want runs from him. There is no doubt about it. You are expected to score runs, and that is something that hasn’t come in big numbers.”

On whether the Indian management will choose KS Bharat or Dhruv Jurel for the India vs England 3rd Test, Parthiv said:

“In Vizag, he (Bharat) failed without a doubt. So it’s a very tricky one whether India sticks to Bharat for one more Test or just try out a youngster (Jurel) who’s done well at the domestic level.”
