KL Rahul: Fastest to mount 5k

KL Rahul became the 8th player in IPL history to score 5000 runs after reaching the milestone in the LSG vs DC clash on Tuesday. Rahul needed 51 to get to the mark, and eventually managed to stay unbeaten on 57 in a tricky chase at the Ekana Stadium. He took just 130 innings to cross the 5000 barrier, 5 less than former Delhi Capitals star David Warner. KL’s average of 46.35 is the highest among players to score more than 5000 runs.

In IPL 2025, KL Rahul returned to bat in the middle order, a role he played in the early years of his IPL career. His best form came at the top of the order, but his versatility is what makes him a special player. He smashed his highest score batting at 3 or below against RCB, scoring a 93* earlier this season.

Rahul’s place is set in history as an IPL legend. He is already among the leading run-getters in the tournament history and is likely to be among the top when he ends his career. Of the players ahead of him, only MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are currently active in the IPL. The trio are at the tail end of their careers, so Rahul will aim to climb that ladder as seasons go by.
