KL Rahul eyes comeback to India’s T20I team via IPL 2025, “knows what to do”

Having played his last T20I in November 2022 against Australia, KL Rahul is desperate to make his comeback to India's T20I side

Karnataka batter KL Rahul is desperate to make his return to the Indian T20I side and wants to use IPL 2025 as a platform to do so. The keeper-batter, who last played a T20I in 2022, has been out of the side in the shortest format of the game while being a regular in ODIs and Tests. KL Rahul will go under the hammer in IPL 2025 auction after being released by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

It will be interesting to see which team will acquire the services of KL Rahul in the auction as the keeper-batter is a valuable asset with his ability to lead the side as well. Speaking in an interview on Star Sports, the batter said that he knows what he needs to do to get back into the Indian side and revealed that he was looking forward to using IPL 2025 as a platform to find his way back.

KL Rahul’s last T20I game was against Australia in Adelaide in November 2022. His form, history of injuries and other alternatives led to his ouster from India’s T20I team. He was not picked for the T20 World Cup either. Rather, KL Rahul has become a regular in the XI for ODIs and Tests. IPL 2025 will probably be the next time KL Rahul will play a game of the shortest format.

The Karnataka star can be a wicketkeeper, top-order batter and captain simultaneously, providing the team with the space to add more batters or bowlers to their XI. In addition to this, KL Rahul has a decent record as a captain in IPL, enjoying a win percentage of 48.43%.
