KL Rahul bias? Rohit Sharma-Gautam Gambhir give game time to every player but Rishabh Pant only exception

Rishabh Pant remains the only Indian player to enter the ICC Champions Trophy without any game time.

Rohit Sharma announced three changes for the last one-day international. Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Shami and Varun Chakravarthy all sat out in favour of Washington Sundar, Arshdeep Singh and Kuldeep Yadav. While all these changes were on expected lines, one name who fans would’ve liked to see was of Rishabh Pant.

Everyone gets a chance except Rishabh Pant

The duo of Rohit and head coach Gautam Gambhir have been experimenting quite a lot. 15 out of 16 players in the Indian team for this ODI series have gotten a chance to play at least one match. However, the exception is Rishabh Pant. It is quite bewildering because during the squad announcement in Mumbai, it was the Indian captain who noted Pant as the first-choice keeper for the team. But, KL Rahul has been given a look for the entire series.

Rahul’s place is deserving nonetheless. After all, he had a solid ODI World Cup 2023 and has found a new life at number three. But the question has been the fact that Gambhir hasn’t been playing KL Rahul at number five. Axar Patel has been promoted to the slot to get the right-hand left-hand combination going. In doing so, Rahul has failed to get in the groove.

Considering this, it was touted that India might play Rishabh Pant in the first place in Ahmedabad. But unfortunately for him, Pant remains the only player without ODI game time to be part of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 as well.
