KL Rahul & Sanjiv Goenka were just having a ‘robust discussion’ says LSG coach

Some media outlets had reported that Goenka apologized to Rahul later, and that's the reason behind them mending their differences.

Just a few days ago, KL Rahul and Sanjiv Goenka were the talk of the town. The two main figures of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) had seemingly gotten into a spat moments after the Sunrisers Hyderabad thrashed them. Well, in all fairness, Rahul was on the receiving end, and the LSG owner was giving his skipper an earful.

No issue between KL Rahul & Sanjiv Goenka

LSG sources had already refuted claims of a rift and that KL Rahul was stepping down as the skipper. Those reports of no rifts between the two have been reaffirmed by the team’s assistant coach, Lance Klusener. Ahead of the DC vs LSG match, the former South African great said that they were having a robust discussion and not a spat.

“I see no problem in a robust discussion between two cricket lovers. For us, it is a storm in a tea cup. It’s not a big thing for us,” Klusener said in the pre-match press conference.

What sources had alleged

An IPL source had claimed that no decision had been taken regarding LSG’s captaincy change. “There is a five-day gap before the next game against DC. As of now, no decision has been taken but it is understood that if Rahul plans to just concentrate on his batting for the remaining two games, the management won’t mind,” the anonymous source said.

A few hours later, an LSG source told IANS that those claims were baseless and that all was fine between KL Rahul and Sanjiv Goenka. “It’s all rumours that Rahul will be displaced from the captaincy and won’t be picked in the auction. The last match didn’t go our way, but everything is fine now between the team and owners. Rahul is in good space and taking rest before the game against DC,” the source said.
