At the time of the toss, KKR skipper Eoin Morgan said: “We are going to have a bowl first. The wicket looks good and there’s some dew around. Eventually, I want to score runs, hope this is the day.”

Kolkata Knight Riders (Playing XI): Shubman Gill, Venkatesh Iyer, Nitish Rana, Rahul Tripathi, Dinesh Karthik(w), Eoin Morgan(c), Shakib Al Hasan, Sunil Narine, Lockie Ferguson, Shivam Mavi, Varun Chakaravarthy

Russell has been a match-winning all-rounder for Kolkata Knight Riders over the past couple of seasons. His unavailability leaves a big void in the lower middle order as well as death over a bowling attack for KKR.

IPL 2021 – KKR Playing XI vs CSK: Kolkata Knight Riders survived a last over scare defeat against Delhi Capitals, losing 6 wickets for just 7 runs while chasing 136 runs target. KKR’s middle order hasn’t come to the rescue yet in the UAE leg which has built up added pressure on the top-order comprising of Venkatesh Iyer, Shubhman Gill, and Rahul Tripathi. Going into such a big game, Kolkata Knight Riders must rectify the issue and not lose any loose holes as that can cost them their 3rd IPL trophy.

In the all-rounders, KKR has Sunil Narine and Shakib Al Hasan. If Andre Russell is fit for tomorrow’s game, Shakib Al Hasan’s spot could go to the Windies all-rounder.

Shubman Gill and Venkatesh Iyer will continue to open the innings as the duo is in terrific form and has done the bulk of scoring for the side in the UAE leg. Rahul Tripathi is expected to come at No 3 followed by Nitish Rana, captain Eoin Morgan, and wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik. All of the three have not been at their best especially skipper Eoin Morgan and will be desperate to return to form for the mega clash.
