KKR coach Chandrakant Pandit pulls up overseas star for dining with “rival” player

KKR head coach Chandrakant Pandit was reportedly unhappy with a player dining with a rival team star

Kolkata Knight Riders coach Chandrakant Pandit is once again in the spotlight, this time for pulling up an overseas player over a trivial issue. Last year, reports emerged of players being upset with him over his coaching style. Pandit has been KKR’s head coach since 2022.

KKR coach under scrutiny again

As per RevSportz, Pandit reportedly questioned an overseas star from KKR for reportedly dining with a rival team player. As per the report, the KKR coach was unaware that the player in question and the person whom he dined with were teammates in their national team.

Pandit’s militant style of coaching

The entire controversy had started when Weise revealed that Pandit was ‘very strict’ and a ‘disciplinarian’.

He (Pandit) is known in India as a very militant type of coach. He is very strict, very disciplinarian, and that type of stuff. Sometimes in franchise cricket, when you have overseas guys, who’ve played all over the world, they don’t need anyone coming and telling them how they need to behave, what they need to wear, and what they need to do the whole time,” he said.

Wiese had said on the podcast ‘Hitman for Hire: A Year in the Life of a Franchise Cricketer.

Another former KKR player N Jagadeesan opened up about a story, highlighting Pandit’s strange ways. Talking during the KKR vs DC match during Tamil commentary for Star Sports, Jagadeesan said that Pandit tore Varun Chakravarthy’s t-shirt.

“Last year in KKR camp Chandrakant Pandit said that day was sleeveless day and that day Varun (Chakravarty) wore full sleeves accidentally. He called him aside and tore the shirt to sleeveless with scissors,” N Jagadeesan said.
