Kieron Pollard and Dwayne Bravo engaged in their usual banter on Saturday, July 29, after the match between MI New York and Texas Super Kings in the ongoing Major League Cricket (MLC 2023). Pollard, not missing a chance to tease Bravo, playfully gestured an airplane with his hand and made a funny sound, jokingly telling Bravo to pack up and go home following the loss. During the Challenger match to secure a place in the final, both Kieron Pollard and Dwayne Bravo were unavailable due to injuries. Nicholas Pooran led MI New York in Pollard’s absence and guided them to a convincing six-wicket victory.
Opting to bat first, Texas Super Kings faced early trouble, losing three wickets for just 34 runs inside the powerplay. However, a resilient 77-run partnership between Devon Conway and Milind Kumar helped them post a challenging total of 158 runs in 20 overs. Among the Super Kings’ batsmen, Conway’s 38-run contribution stood out. On the other hand, MI New York’s bowler Trent Boult was exceptional, taking 4 wickets for 24 runs.
In their chase of the target, MI New York also experienced a slow start and found themselves at 74 for 3 in the 11th over. However, Tim David’s rapid 33-run innings turned the tide in their favor. Later, Dewald Brevis played an unbeaten knock of 41 runs to lead his team to victory with one over to spare. MI New York will now square off against the Seattle Orcas in the MLC 2023 Final on July 31 at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas.
