“Just another day in office”: Rohit Sharma decodes how he stormed back into run-scoring mindset

Rohit Sharma explained how mindset mattered when it came to scoring runs after his whirlwind knock in IND vs ENG 2nd ODI

There is all sort of buzz over Rohit Sharma’s return to form in a classy fashion. But for the Indian captain, it is just another day in the office. The Hitman broke free from the shackles of poor form with a sensational century in IND vs ENG 2nd ODI. While this comes as a huge relief for Indian cricket fans before ICC Champions Trophy, for Rohit it was only about time that it would happen.

Decoding Rohit Sharma’s mindset ft. Cuttack century

Speaking after the IND vs ENG 2nd ODI in Cuttack, Rohit explained that he had played the game for long enough to know how to score runs. He claimed that one or two knocks would not change his mind and that he is very well aware of what is expected from him. Sharma said that he needed to get back to the mindset of how to score runs and noted that while it sounds simple, it was quite difficult.

When people have played for a number of years and have scored so many runs, it means something. I have played this game for a long time now, I know what is required of me. In my mind, it was about doing the things I do and try and bat the way I do. One or two knocks is not going to change my mind. Just another day in the office,” Rohit Sharma said.

We need to do our job, it is to go out there and play the game. Today, when you go to bed and know that you have given your best, that is what matters,” he added.

The Indian skipper turned back the clock to smash a whirlwind 119-run knock off 90 deliveries. Struggling to score runs in the last few months, Rohit finally managed to break free from the shackles of poor form. The list of records broken by the Hitman following his knock include most international centuries after turning 30, most 50s by an Indian opener, second highest run-scorer for India, overtaking Dravid on list of leading run-getters in ODIs.
