History maker! Joe Root becomes the first batter to score 10 Test centuries against India

Root has scored nearly one-third of his Test centuries against India (10 out of 31).

The Joe Root English fans have been waiting for has arrived. After failing in the first three Tests of the India vs England series, the former England skipper has arrived. By playing a sumptuous cover drive of Akash Deep, Root notched up his 31st Test century and became the first player to score 10 hundreds against India in Test cricket.

Players with most Test centuries against India

Joe Root – 10 hundreds in 52 innings
Steve Smith – 9 hundreds in 37 innings
Gary Sobers – 8 hundreds in 30 innings
Viv Richards – 8 hundreds in 41 innings
Ricky Ponting – 8 hundreds in 51 innings

After his first century of the India vs England series in Ranchi, Root has leapfrogged some of the greatest cricketers to ever grace the game. He has gone past Sir Gary Sobers, Viv Richards, Ricky Ponting, and fellow Fab 4 member Steve Smith to hold the record for scoring the most centuries against India in Test cricket.
