Shahid Kapoor is playing the role of a thirty-six-year-old failed cricketer, who returns to the game with the sole purpose of fulfilling his son’s wish. The movie is a remake of a Tamil film with the same name, and is all set to hit the theatres on April 14.

Recently speaking to Filmfare, the actor revealed how he played cricket for four to five hours daily, in order to achieve perfection in his role. “We did four months of training. We started in Bombay and began playing on hard surfaces. We started with throwdowns. I used to spend four-five hours a day playing cricket for four months and then on set also a lot,” he said.

The 41-year-old actor further revealed that special effects have not been used at all in the movie and all scenes involving cricket were shot in real-time. To keep his on-screen image as cricket as real as possible, Shahid even went to the extent of practising with state-level cricketers on proper pitches.

The three-time Filmfare award-winning star sustained plenty of injuries during the making of the film, and one such injury saw him getting thirteen stitches. Besides Shahid, the movie also stars actress Mrunal Thakur and is directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri. Films based on cricket in the likes of 83 and Kaun Pravin Tambe have done well in recent times, and fans of cricket and Bollywood are now eagerly waiting for the release of Jersey.
