Jasprit Bumrah needs to step up in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 for India to claim the series and secure a spot in the WTC final.

Jasprit Bumrah has a significant task ahead as he gears up for the highly competitive Border-Gavaskar Trophy, starting on November 22 in Perth. Bumrah also has the chance to surpass the legendary Kapil Dev’s record as the most successful Indian bowler on Australian soil. How many wickets does Bumrah need to break the record? Let’s find out.

Bumrah, with 32 wickets in seven Tests on Australian soil, needs 20 more to surpass Kapil Dev and become India’s leading wicket-taker in Australia. Kapil, during his career, played 11 Tests in Australia and claimed 51 wickets. Following Kapil on the list are Anil Kumble (49 wickets), Ravichandran Ashwin (39), and Bishan Singh Bedi (35).

Mohammed Shami also had an opportunity to break the record as he has 31 wickets, but due to not being fully fit and recovering from injury, the pacer missed the series.
