Jasprit Bumrah becomes second Asian to win at Perth

Perth, known for its challenging pitches, has witnessed decisive wins by Indian captains at both its iconic cricket venues—WACA and Optus Stadium. Anil Kumble first broke the barrier back in 2008, leading India to a memorable win at WACA. This achievement set a tone for future teams visiting Australia. Fast forward to 2024, Jasprit Bumrah, leading the Indian team at Optus Stadium, has done it again. After Kumble, now he becomes not only the Indian but the Asian captain to win at Perth.

Overall Bumrah becomes the first ever captain from the visiting team to win at the Optus Stadium.

Bumrah joins the Elite list of Kapil Dev and Bishan Singh Bedi

When it comes to influential performances by Indian captains, Jasprit Bumrah found his place among the legends with his extraordinary bowling figures against Australia in Perth. His match return of 8/72 was impressive, making a much needed comeback in the game.

Historically, Indian captains have delivered incredible individual performances, with Kapil Dev’s 10/135 against the West Indies in Ahmedabad in 1983 leading the chart. Bishan Singh Bedi also showcased his masterclasss with 10/194 at WACA in 1977 and 9/70 against New Zealand in Chennai in 1976.
