Delhi and Saurashtra are gearing up for their Ranji Trophy second leg match which commences on January 23. The game will witness the return of Ravindra Jadeja and Rishabh Pant to domestic cricket, following the BCCI’s directive to the players. Both the southpaws reported for duty earlier this week and have been training with their respective teams to prepare for the contest.
Jadeja, Pant sweat it out ahead of Ranji Trophy clash
As per a journalist from The Hindu, Jadeja was seen bowling to veteran Cheteshwar Pujara in the nets at Ground C, near Niranjan Shah cricket stadium on Wednesday where DEL vs SAU match is set to take place. Delhi’s Pant was seen doing warm-up drills nearby following which he batted in the nets. Following the session, the southpaw was reportedly seen having a lengthy chat with Arpit Rana and Sanat Sangwan, seemingly offering them some tips.

Jadeja last played the domestic red-ball tournament in 2023 when he led Saurashtra against Tamil Nadu in Chennai. The all-rounder reported for domestic duty on Sunday following which he has been training with the team. Despite making himself available for selection for the game against Delhi, Jadeja will not captain the side and instead will allow Jaydev Unadkat to carry on with the responsibility.
Meanwhile, Pant will end his 7-year hiatus from Ranji Trophy as he will feature in the match against Saurashtra. The southpaw, like Jadeja, will not captain the Delhi side despite being asked to do so by the DDCA. Instead, he has assured the board that he will help captain Ayush Badoni in all means possible to get a favourable result for the side.
Apart from Jadeja and Pant, India’s Test regulars including Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill will also take part in the second leg of Ranji. Virat Kohli will miss the first game of the 2nd leg but has informed the DDCA of his availability for Delhi’s next game against Railways on January 30.
